WEST BROM 1-1 BURNLEY: MIXED EMOTIIJS AS CLARETS ARE DENIED VICTORY

Burnley may have been stunned by a late equaliser but most Clarets fans will know their side hardly deserved a point in their 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns. Struggling to break free from the clutches of West Brom’s narrow midfield, the usually-dominant trio of Josh Cullen, Jack Cork and Josh Brownhill never really got going as they were suffocated by Okay Yokuslu and Jayson Molumby in the centre of the park, unable to play the swift, ‘olé’ worthy passing game of the weeks before.

And whilst Jay Rodriguez’s penalty just before the half-hour mark sent the Clarets into the lead at the interval, a Connor Roberts mistake handed the Baggies a 98th-minute draw that they more than deserved on the balance of play. The warning signs were there from the first minute with the hosts breaking free down the right-hand side and winning a corner which Irishman Dara O’Shea glanced over when he should have done better. Nathan Tella did see one promising break over the top cut short by David Button but the Clarets were second to every ball, with John Swift and Jed Wallace being the architects. (more…)

JOHNSTONE SET FOR PALACE TRANSFER – JOURNALIST

England international Sam Johnstone is set to sign for Premier League side Crystal Palace on a free transfer this summer according to the latest reports coming out of the media in the United Kingdom (UK). Journalist Damien Charles Lucas confirmed that the West Brom shot stopper Johnstone is closing in on a move to Palace and a move to West Ham United will likely not happen.

West Brom goalkeeper Johnstone was seriously linked with a move to West Ham United in a £10m deal before the Europa League semifinalistsopted for Frenchman Alphonse Areola. West Ham manager David Moyes was convinced to go for Areola rather than Johnstoneby goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero. Valero was able to persuade Moyes to sign Areola and the Frenchman did well in the Europa League on the way to the semifinals before they lost to German Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt via a 3-1 aggregate scoreline. Areola is facing an uncertain future at West Ham as he’s on loan at the club from French team Paris Saint Germain (PSG). His loan deal at West Ham United will expire next month. (more…)

PREDICTED WEST BROM XI TO FACE HUDDERSFIELD

West Brom are back in action tonight with a Championship clash against Huddersfield Town at The Hawthorn. Having picked up their first league win in eight games with a 2-0 victory over Hull City at the weekend, the Baggies will head into tonight’s match with renewed confidence. However, the Terriers are currently 13 points and 10 places above Albion in the league table, having scored 12 more goals as well, so it will be a tough match for Steve Bruce’s side.

In his latest press conference, the former Newcastle United boss revealed that midfielder Alex Mowatt is a doubt for this evening’s clash with a slight muscle issue, while Daryl Dike recently returned to training after suffering a hamstring injury shortly after joining the club in January. With that in mind, here’s how we feel the Baggies could line up tonight. (more…)

WEST BROM PLANNING DOUBLE RAID ON MANCHESTER UNITED

According to several reports from multiple sources, West Bromwich Albion are keen to bolster their squad this summer and are eyeing loan moves for two Manchester United youngsters to achieve that. The Baggies are said to be interested in taking two of the Red Devils’ youngsters, Uruguayan international attacking midfielder Facundo Pellistri and Ivory Coast wonderkid Amad Diallo. Diallo has particularly been a subject of intense transfer speculation amid reports that he could be sidelined to only a few minutes of Premier League football next season, meaning he could be set to leave Old Trafford on a temporary basis.

WEST BROM SUFFER ANOTHER HEAVY DEFEAT

West Brom are in big trouble after they suffered another heavy home defeat in the Premier League under new manager Sam Allardyce. Ex-Sunderland, Bolton Wanderers and Newcastle United boss Allardyce is widely known as a relegation specialist in Premier League circles having led a lot of teams away from the relegation zone during his long career as a manager in the English top flight but his new challenge at the Hawthorns might be a step too far for him. Sam Allardyce has never been relegated from the Premier League and he’ll do well to maintain this record at the end of this season.

Sam Allardyce was named the new West Brom manager last month as a replacement for the sacked Slaven Bilic but the new manager bounce expected has not really happened at the club. Sam Allardyce has masterminded a lot of home defeats during his short time as the West Brom boss. As a matter of fact, he has lost all his four home games in charge by a heavy scoreline including the 5-0 loss to league leaders Manchester City last night. Sam Allardyce has seen his team score none and concede a whooping 17 goals in his four home games. West Brom have lost at home to midland rivals Aston Villa, Leeds United, Arsenal and Manchester City during his time at the club. (more…)
