West Bromare currently in the hunt for the promotion places and are placed fifth on the championship table seven points off the last automatic spot.  The Baggies recently sack coach Darren Moore over poor results which shocked many who believed that he was doing great work.

Interim boss James Shan has been in charge of the club in recent games and has picked up successive victories. This new found confidence in the team is echoed by midfielder James Morrison who insists that the club have not given up hope on the final automatic promotion spot.

According to Morrison, the club has the advantage of playing first in most of their remaining fixtures and this could put pressure on the teams above them. He also revealed that the players are committed to winning their last eight games of the season to provide the best possible opportunity for the club.

James Shan impact as the head coach has seen the bookies put him as the favourite to get the job permanently until the end of the season. West Bromhave played in his two games in charge and are yet to concede a goal in both games.

It would take a monumental run of form for the Baggies to snatch the final playoff place. The battle seems to be between Sheffield United and Derby County.  Sheffield is currently a point above Leeds and this promises to be a tight race that could be decided on the last day of the season.

It would take a huge dose of luck for West Brom to be able to make the automatic slot as they would be banking on Leeds and Sheffield to have a poor run of results.

Nevertheless, the Baggies have the chance to lay down a marker as they face Birmingham City on Friday at the Hawthorns
